When I worked in the corporate world, I had small perks I received based on my position; usually free lunches and sports tickets from vendors who wanted to build influential relationships. It wasn’t until recently looking back that I became aware of the prestige, confidence, and significance I thought those perks gave me.
Things shifted in my life and the beautiful gift of motherhood came. All of a sudden, I was in charge of a whole new set of prestigious honors. Ones that revolved around nursing, decoding baby cries, leading my child to her first steps, and explaining to her how choices render consequences in life.
Then I added icing on the cake by becoming an entrepreneur. Where I no longer have the prestigious paychecks or annual bonuses to count on and where my road less traveled is paved with dreams of no glass ceilings and more rewarding lifestyles without sacrificing family time.
No matter where you are in your stage of being a mom or in your career, this month we have an opportunity to redefine our value as moms/business owners in a way that goes beyond our actual bank account balance or prestigious position we hold.
